Made between 1995 and 2019, these shorts by Peggy Ahwesh, Lutz Bacher, Kevin Jerome Everson, Nina Könnemann, Georgie Nettell, Julia Scher, Jason Simon, X-PRZ (Tony Cokes, Doug Anderson, Kenseth Armstead, and Mark Pierson), and Stewart Uoo range in genre from found footage to “collage" to quasi-documentary, and run approximately 2 to 24 min in length. From different vantage points, using different strategies, the selected works explore notions of ideological “capture”—mentally, physically, and technologically—already deeply embedded in contemporary life, and without valorizing individualism as a means of resistance, or escape. How are we implicit in the systems that perpetuate nefarious forms of social control? The entire program is approximately 70 min.
